PARK

500 YEARS

OF HISTORY

It contains the most impressive of the various cultures that inhabited pre-Hispanic Mexico: the Olmecs, Toltecs, Aztecs and the Maya. All of them were under the influence of the great god Quetzalcoatl (the Mayan God Kukulkan) and the incredible legend of his return through the turquoise-blue waters to the fifth sun, which might be interpreted as 500 years later, or in our time. We keep some of the most significant archaeological specimens of ancient Mexican culture for the country, including original items from several ancient Mexican archaeological sites.

ATLANTEAN

FIGURES FROM TULA

One of the main attractions of Gobal Los Cabos Park are the giant Atlantean figures from Tula. The striking art of the Toltecs is the four-piece sculptures. These figures depict warriors with feather crowns, armed with knives, arrows and darts.

The sculptures represent typical Toltec warrior in his traditional clothing with helmet or headdress, chest protectors, bracelets, discs on the back, loincloth, thigh protectors, kneepads and sandals.

Moreover, one can see the weapons used during the creation of the sculptures. It is noteworthy that each of four Atlanteans holds in the right hand an atlatl, a spear or a dart-throwing tool that was used to hit the enemy at long distance. While in the left hand, they carry long spears or darts, a curved weapon and some kind of container, and on the forearm a knife supported by a bracelet.

TEMAZCAL

INDIAN
SWEAT LODGE

One of the main attractions of Gobal Los Cabos Park is the temazcal (pre-Hispanic “house of heat”), where visitors can take part in a ritual to purify the soul, body and spirit, by entering one of our baths. The ritual lasts about an hour. This unique experience you can give yourself right in the park.

In Mexico, the temazcal has played an important role in social and religious life since ancient times. Temazcal can also be defined as the “House of Hot Stones”.

Most archaeological remains of temazcals were located in ceremonial centers, often near to ball game sites. Their design resembled the palaces and temples of those times. The temazcal had various functions: hygienic, post-natal, therapeutic and religious. The Indian sweat lodge served to cure illnesses by raising and lowering body temperature.

Experience this unforgettable ritual of body and soul purification… surrounded by the pyramids in Gobal Los Cabos Park.

PAPANTLA

FLYERS

Costa-Maya-Gobal-image-1d-mobile_18-1
Costa-Maya-Gobal-image-1d-mobile_18-2

It is an amazing performance of men dancing in the sky. It involves four dancers, tied by their feet with long ropes, who descend to the ground as the ropes unwind and fly around the pole. The fifth dancer remains on top of the pole, playing the flute and drum. This ceremony, apart from being an obvious display of bravery and courage, has a much deeper meaning.

Voladores de Papantla, also called “Birds of the Earth” was an ancient ritual related to fertility performed by the local Totonacs year after year.

This spectacular performance confirms the importance of ethnic groups` identity and is one of the few rituals that are part of the world`s cultural heritage.

The dance of the flyers is also known as the “flight of the dead”, which represents a greeting to Father Sun and a request to fertilize the soil with rain. This ceremony has been performed for more than 2500 years with the main four dancers who symbolize the four sides of the world, and their descent to earth signifies the rain.

PURIFICATION

RITUAL

The park provides special areas for yoga and meditation, so that each visitor can relax surrounded by jungle and nature, as well as enjoy the wonderful experience of rebirth due to acquaintance with our ancient cultures.

MAYAN RITUALS

GREAT SPIRITUAL WEALTH

The healing power of the jungle, supported by the region`s good ecology and the various rituals inspired by the ancient Mayan culture, will allow you to connect with your inner self.

The ancient rituals were a significant aspect of the pre-Hispanic Mayan religion. With the help of those rituals, people expressed their spiritual richness and met the sacred world, with the gods and with everything that was considered supernatural. The rituals were performed in sacred places such as temples, pyramid tops, courtyards, squares and ball fields, which symbolized the microcosm.

We perform pre-Hispanic rituals and share this experience with visitors in Gobal Los Cabos Park.

Using ceremonial candles, copal, nature and other elements, we help you find balance in your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. So that in the end you feel satisfied and happy.
